Easter Past

As I was driving home today, the calm peaceful atmosphere took me back to Easter when I was a child.

I remember we would spend the afternoon with Mr. and Mrs. Pickles, friends of my mother enjoying an afternoon ride.

We spent the morning celebrating Easter at church performing in the Easter play we practiced for many days.

After having an Easter parade through the neighborhood with our friends, we ate the delicious dinner my mother made and then we were ready for our Sunday drive.

We lived in a small town bordering to different states-Kentucky and West Virginia. That day we travelled country roads and little towns until we were at the state line to West Virginia. We went back on different country roads and little towns. Mr. Pickles knew a lot of ways to get around.

The weather was pleasantly warm and breezy. The trees and beautiful flowers were in full bloom. There was excitement in the calmness of the atmosphere. That was exactly what I felt today driving home.

Did today bring back any childhood Easter memories for you?

Greeting Cards My Way

After looking high and low for instructions to make my ow greeting cards for beginners I decided to move forward with the attitude what will be, will be.

Considering this is my first try at creating greeting cards I didn’t want to invest a lot of money on materials until I see if I’m cut out for this endeavor.

When I decided to try this I didn’t have a plan so I purchased a few items that would create a cute card for my sister for her birthday. I couldn’t stop at one so I created two.

The above card is my first creation. Not bad for first try.

This card is my second attempt. It’s a fun simple card.

I enjoyed creating the cards. Now I’d like to try my hand at a card with a little more detail.

Creative Endeavors

A bowling tournament started my day. That was that fasted tournament bowling I’ve ever been in. Great time but that’s not the creative part of my day.

There were several items on my to do list that needed to be tackled so I picked one that I could knock out and move on to another one. One problem, it didn’t go like I thought in my head.

I found that my skills were a little rusty and it took a lot longer than anticipated. Through perseverance my creative endeavors turned out great. Take a look.

This pair took me what seemed to be forever to complete…my skills are quite rusty.

The following one was very easy…not much to do.

This endeavor has my juices flowing. I have plenty of materials that can become beautiful works of art. So I better get started.

Melania Leads the Way

Today I am posting an article written by a friend of mine. She wrote about her observation of The National Prayer Service and how she was touched by what she saw.

January 22, 2017

This has been a monumental week in the history of our country. While the people danced the night away…while the analysts examined every nuance… while the women rioted to give away their dignity and their freedoms… I watched.

It was quite a spectacle, full of rash promises and elation and despair and vitriol and wisdom. So much information. So much warfare.

And yet, for me, the most poignant moment came at a little publicized event… The National Prayer Service. The ceremony had been quite dull. Ponderous religiosity seeped through the musty air.

And then, a young blind girl with cerebral palsy sang “How Great Thou Art.” before our new President.

I sang along; the majestic old hymn rang out sweet and true.

And as the girl finished, Melania stood up.

In front of the esteemed dignitaries… In front of the lofty clergymen called to perform before our new President… she stood.

She didn’t care. She wiped away a tear and applauded.

One by one, those esteemed dignitaries… those lofty clergymen… began to rise and clap with her.

She didn’t take notice. She didn’t blink. Finally, she sat, and turning to her husband she said, “Wow.”

This woman is destined for greatness in the Kingdom. It is said she carries an Esther spirit. And I just believe that I saw her step into her new call this Saturday. I saw God put his hand out, bid her come… and she said yes. This is going to be an amazing 4 years.

How Great Thou Art

Oh Lord my God
When I in awesome wonder
Consider all the worlds
Thy hands have made
I see the stars
I hear the rolling thunder
Thy power throughout
The universe displayed

Then sings my soul
My Savior, God, to Thee
How great thou art
How great thou art
Then sings my soul
My Savior, God, to Thee
How great Thou art
How great Thou art

And when I think of God,
His son not sparing,
Sent Him to die,
I scarce can take it in;
That on the cross, my burden
gladly bearing He bled and died
to take away my sin

Then sings my soul
My Savior, God, to Thee
How great thou art
How great thou art
Then sings my soul
My Savior, God, to Thee
How great Thou art
How great Thou art

When Christ shall come
With shout of acclamation
And take me home
What joy shall fill my heart
Then I shall bow
With humble adoration
And then proclaim My God
How great Thou art

Then sings my soul
My Savior, God, to Thee
How great Thou art
How great Thou art
Then sings my soul
My Savior, God, to Thee
How great Thou art
How great Thou art

Espresso Express

When I was in Italy a couple of years ago I fell in love with the Espresso drink. When I returned home I had to buy Espresso somewhere, anywhere if I had a taste for it.

After purchasing many cups of Espresso I had the idea that I could make it at home. Mind you I can’t make a decent cup of coffee. My dog wouldn’t drink the coffee I made.Pretty bad, huh.

I started on a journey to gather utensils I would need to become an Espresso Barista. Google and Amazon became my go to information centers. I also checked out a few more sites but at the end of the day I didn’t know any more than before I started looking.

I finally made a decision and purchased an Espresso machine. After it arrived I stood back and peered at it like it was a strange animal in the zoo.

Getting past that I remembered I had a coffee grinder that I previously used to grind other things-not coffee. I finally located it.

Next was Espresso Beans. They were easy to buy. So no sweat there.

After thinking I knew what I was doing I realized the grinder wasn’t working that well but didn’t know what exactly was wrong. My next adventure was…you guessed it-to find a new grinder.

Just like the Espresso machine there were so many pros and cons that I quit looking several times. Then one day I came across a grinder that I could use with my Ninja Blender.  I bit the bullet and purchased the grinder.

The grinder works great and the Espresso beans are ground like I’ve never seen before. The  Espresso taste different…stronger….better.

Now I can say mission accomplished.
